1.2 Million UTME Candidates May Not Gain Access To Universities
The Minister of Education, Prof. Ruqayyatu Rufai told newsmen in Abuja at the weekend that the current capacity of tertiary institutions in the country is just about five hundred thousand which cannot take care for the 1.7million candidates who sat for the exams.
The minister calls for public private partnerships for the establishment of more university to increase access to university education in the country.
According to JAMB, over 1.7million candidates registered for the UTME for this year, an increase of 13.35percent compared to previous years.
This means that over one million candidates may not gain access to tertiary institutions.
