13 Reps Leave APC, PDP, LP for New Political Platforms

Following its return from a month-long break on Tuesday, the House of Representatives witnessed a major shift in alignment as 13 members declared their transition to different political parties.

Speaker Abbas Tajudeen read the notices of defection during plenary.

Among the defectors was Gaza Jonathan of Nasarawa State, who moved from the Social Democratic Party (SDP) to the Labour Party (LP).

Alex Egbona of Cross River State left the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), while Esosa Iyawe of Edo State defected from the APC to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Sani Lawal of Katsina State also exited the APC for an undisclosed party, while Shehu Dalhatu, also from Katsina, joined the PDP from the APC.

Six lawmakers from Oyo State dumped the PDP for the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).

They are Adebayo Adepoju, Adedeji Olajide, Ojo Akinola, Oyedeji Oyeshina, Oyekunle Folajimi, and Abass Adigun.

Also, Etanabene Benedict of Delta State moved from the Labour Party to the PDP, while Auwalu Gwalabe of Bauchi State left the PDP for the APM.

The lawmakers attributed their decisions to internal crises, unresolved leadership disputes and factional divisions within their former parties.

They argued that the challenges had affected their ability to effectively represent their constituents.
