The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Sunday September 19, 2021 announced one hundred and sixty-eight (168) confirmed new cases of coronavirus, also known as COVID-19 in the country.
The virus also killed one (1) person on Sunday.
New cases of the pandemic have continued to rise for seven consecutive weeks across Africa including Nigeria, signaling the third wave as the country confirmed the deadly Delta variants.
The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Sunday July 11 in a statement announced a possible third wave of the pandemic in Nigeria.
As of Sunday September 19, there are 8,580 active cases in Nigeria.

Seven states with zero cases reported: Bauchi, Ekiti, Imo, Oyo, Plateau, Rivers, and Sokoto
A backlog of discharged cases for Niger State from 11th September till date, including community discharges managed in line with guidelines, NCDC said.
