The Rivers State Government has revoked the earlier approval it gave the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, to use the state-owned Adokiye Ameisimaka Stadium for his rally slated for 11th February 2023.
A letter to the campaign council claimed security could not be guaranteed at the stadium as the Atiku PCC was working with a faction of the APC loyal to Tonye Cole and former Rivers Governor Rotimi Amaechi.
However, some Atiku supporters already believe it is a carryover of the rift between Atiku and Rivers State’s Governor Nyesom Wike, a fellow PDP chieftain who has refused to join the presidential campaign train with the aggrieved G5 group of governors.
