2027: ADC Promises to Build a Party Bigger Than Personalities

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) National Chairman and former Senate President, David Mark, has stated that the party is establishing a new benchmark for opposition politics in Nigeria. This new standard, he explained, is founded on the principles of discipline, integrity, and competence.

Speaking during the ADC National Working Committee (NWC) meeting, Mark declared that the party’s vision was to build a political movement “bigger than any personality and stronger than any moment,” while proving that Nigeria can work for everyone.

“We begin with a conviction that Nigeria can, and will, work for everyone, and with a commitment to build a party bigger than any personality, stronger than any moment and positively different from any party in the annals of our country,” he said.

Mark, who recently assumed the leadership of the ADC, stated that the party would be guided by four non-negotiable principles: character, competence, courage, and discipline.

“Our leadership standard is non-negotiable: character, competence, courage, and discipline. These four pillars will guide our choices, shape our culture, and anchor our performances,” he said.

He emphasised that the ADC’s structure and culture would distinguish it from other political parties, noting that its operations would reflect accountability, transparency, and service to the people.

“What makes the ADC different is simple, we will be a party of purpose and determination, not impulses,” Mark said.

“We will be an institution that champions democratic values and a culture of accountability and responsibility across its organs and in every government it forms.”

Reaffirming his belief in Nigeria’s potential, Mark expressed optimism that good governance and disciplined political leadership could still restore citizens’ confidence in the country.

“We begin with a conviction that Nigeria can, and will, work for everyone,” he said.

“We are committed to proving that with the right leadership, this country can rise again and deliver on its promise of equity and progress.”

Mark described the ADC as a Pan-African, people-oriented, problem-solving movement that places the needs of the poor, the youth, women, and other vulnerable groups at the centre of its agenda.

“We are sensitive to the needs of the poor and the young, women and men, persons with disabilities, workers, peasants, entrepreneurs, retirees, civil society, and the vulnerable,” he said.

“We will convert empathy into policy, and policy into results.”

The former Senate President added that the ADC would focus on grassroots inclusion, social welfare, and economic empowerment, noting that its mission was to make governance about service, not self-interest.
