Sharafadeen Alli and Teslim Folarin, two prominent All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship hopefuls in Oyo State, have each held separate meetings with President Bola Tinubu in Lagos regarding their 2027 political ambitions.
It was gathered that the meetings, held on different days, were part of efforts by the aspirants to secure the party’s ticket ahead of the next governorship election in the state.
Alli met with the President about two days earlier, while Folarin’s meeting took place on Thursday.
According to Daily Post, insiders hinted that both politicians sought Tinubu’s approval and possible endorsement as the race for the APC governorship ticket began to gather momentum.
Confirming his visit, Alli, who represents Oyo South Senatorial District, shared details of the meeting in a post on his verified Facebook page.
“I recently had the distinct honour of visiting His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR), during this Easter season, a time of renewal, reflection, and hope,” he wrote.
He described the President as a leader committed to national development, saying, “Our conversation reaffirmed my confidence in his courage, clarity of purpose, and unwavering commitment to Nigeria.”
Alli added that Tinubu emphasised the importance of responsible leadership.
“He reminded me that leadership is a sacred trust, one that must be exercised with strength, compassion, and a constant awareness that true success is measured by the lives we uplift,” he stated.
The lawmaker further noted that the meeting left him motivated and optimistic about Nigeria’s future.
“I left the meeting inspired, re-energised, and quietly confident that, with unity and steadfast support, Nigeria is on a steady path toward lasting stability and shared prosperity,” he added.
Folarin Confirms ‘Father-to-son’ talks
Similarly, Folarin also confirmed his meeting with Tinubu via his verified Facebook page, describing it as personal and impactful.
“Yesterday, I had the honour of a father-to-son discussion with our leader and President of Nigeria, His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR,” he wrote.
Alli, a lawyer and traditional titleholder, is the Ekaarun Balogun of Ibadanland. He previously served as Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government Area, Secretary to the Oyo State Government, and Chairman of O’dua Investment Company Limited.
Folarin, the Agba-Akin Olubadan of Ibadanland, is a former Senate Leader who served between 2007 and 2011 and has remained a prominent figure in Oyo politics.
