Accident Claims Lives Of Two In Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway

An accident involving a bus and a Mazda car at Ayede, on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway has claimed the lives of two person.

While two persons were confirmed dead, another one person was reportedly injured.

Babatunde Akinbiyi, who is the Spokesperson of Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, confirmed the incident to newsmen in Abeokuta.

According to Akinbiyi, he stated that the accident occured at 7:10am when the driver of the unregistered Mazda car drove against traffic and had a head-on collision with the Mazda bus marked SEY 311 ZY.

The TRACE spokesperson stressed that the drivers of the two vehicles died while a motor boy sustained injuries.

“The injured motor boy had been taken to a nearby hospital before the arrival of TRACE, while the driver of the car was taken away by his family for burial” Akibiyi stated.

He also confirmed that the bus driver’s body had been deposited at Ifo General Hospital morgue.

“According to an eyewitness, the white Mazda bus, loaded with foodstuffs was on its rightful lane, outbound Abeokuta. The unregistered Mazda car, driving in a direction prohibited by traffic law collided with the bus, leaving the drivers of both vehicles dead on the spot due to the impact of the collision.

“The motorboy of the white Mazda bus sustained varying degrees of injuries and has been taken to a private clinic for medical attention,” he said.

Akinbiyi warned drivers to desist from committing route violations, saying that there are a lot of dangers associated with route violations.
