ADC House Of Reps Candidate, Abidikugu Sympathises With Traders Of Bode Market Over Fire Incident

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) House of Representatives Candidate for Ibadan South East/ North East Federal Constituency, Dr Kazeem Adesina Abidikugu, popularly known as KSO, has sympathised with traders in Bode Market, Ibadan, over the fire incident that ravaged the market on Friday.

Abidikugu sends his heartfelt sympathy to the traders in the market who lost properties worth millions of Naira to the early morning inferno.

Bode Market is one of the largest markets in the city and is widely known as a major trading hub for herbs, animal skins and other traditional products.

According to eyewitnesses, the fire broke out at about 1:00 a.m. from an unknown source before rapidly spreading to other sections of the market, consuming several shops and their contents.

Personnel of the Oyo State Fire Service are at the scene and have largely brought the blaze under control, preventing it from spreading to more parts of the market.

An official of the fire service said the agency received a distress call at about 4:00 a.m. and immediately deployed firefighters to the scene, where efforts to completely extinguish the fire are still ongoing.

Abidikugu, a Nigerian United Kingdom-based psychiatric consultant, in a statement issued on Friday, described the sad incident as painful, saying losing properties worth millions of Naira in this economy is hard to take.

While expressing his sympathy with the marketers, Abidikugu called on the relevant authorities to put the market back to good shape and prays that the Almighty God will be with the traders at the market and provide for them to bounce back from the huge loss occasioned by the fire incident.

Abidikugu, who is the Agba-Akin Bobajiro of Ibadanland, also sympathised with the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja (Arusa 1) on the fire incident.

He prays that the Almighty Allah will prevent such occurrences in the future.

Abidikugu, a well-known philanthropist, also called on the well-to-do people in the society to assist the traders in restocking their shops when it is rebuilt.

This is as he called on the government to provide relief for the affected traders, saying the government exists to assist and help the Citizens.
