The Nigeria’s Super Eagles has defeated the hosts, Côte d’Ivoire to get back on track at the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Abidjan.
The crunchy match was played on Thursday after group rival Equatorial Guinea defeated Guinea Bissau 4-1.
The feat by Equatorial Guinea put them at the top of the table with four points after their opening group match against the Super Eagles ended one all.
For the Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire, they defeated Guinea Bissau 2-0 in the opening match of the competition.
So for the match on Thursday, the Super Eagles needed a win to remain on track.
And they got the win, taking out the Elephants by a lone goal.
They gained the three points after a 55th minute goal by William Troost-Ekong from the penalty spot.
