AFCON 2025 Q: Super Eagles Camp Opens In Abidjan

Ahead of this weekend’s Super Eagles AFCON qualifiers against Benin and Rwanda, Nigeria has officially opened camp in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria will play Benin Republic on Matchday Five at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium before hosting Rwanda at the Godswill Akpabio stadium in Uyo on Matchday Six.

Leading the Super Eagles to camp, USA-based midfielder Alhassan Yusuf and new call-up Victor Collins are the first set of players to arrive at camp in Abidjan.

Yusuf traveled from Kano to Abuja before heading to Abidjan with Nasarawa United defender Collins, who received his first Super Eagles invitation.

Collins is the only player from the Nigeria Premier Football League, the country’s domestic league, selected for the AFCON qualifiers.

The 24-year-old left-sided central defender has played full minutes in seven of 10 league matches, totalling 630 minutes.

He was an unused substitute in two games and was not listed in the lineup for one match.

As the camp officially opens, the current African Player of the Year, Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman will be leading the Super Eagles to victory.

Nigeria leads their group with 10 points from four games and needs just one point from the remaining two matches to qualify for the 2025 African Cup of Nations in Morocco next year.
