The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, has instructed all Nigerian Air Force (NAF) component commanders engaged in current military operations nationwide to escalate their attacks on terrorists and criminals who pose a threat to national security.
Aneke gave the directive during a high-level strategic meeting held at the NAF Headquarters in Abuja, where he met with air component commanders from all operational theatres.
The meeting focused on enhancing precision air operations and delivering “smarter, harder, and more decisive” strikes against insurgents, terrorists, and bandits across Nigeria.
According to a statement released by the NAF, the meeting marked a decisive step in recalibrating its operational posture and strengthening inter-service collaboration to improve national security outcomes.
Addressing the senior officers, Air Marshal Aneke stressed the need for agility, precision, and intelligence-driven warfare, saying such an approach was vital in countering evolving threats across all operational theatres.
“We must fly smarter and strike harder; every mission must reflect professionalism, purpose, and patriotism,” the air chief said.
He urged the commanders to maintain operational discipline, ensure accuracy in targeting, and minimise collateral damage during air strikes.
The Air Chief stressed the importance of synchronizing air, land, and maritime operations, adding that coordinated efforts would ensure mission success and national security.
“Our operations must be intelligence-led and coordinated with sister services to ensure maximum impact on terrorist networks,” Aneke stated.
He assured that the Nigerian Air Force would continue to strengthen cooperation with the Army, Navy, and other security agencies to achieve unified operational effectiveness in the fight against insurgency and banditry.
Air Marshal Aneke also reiterated his administration’s commitment to improving personnel welfare, innovation, and continuous training to enhance combat readiness and efficiency.
He pledged to equip airmen and airwomen with the necessary tools and modern warfare skills to meet current and emerging threats.
“The safety and confidence of our citizens are our mission success indicators. Nigeria is counting on us, and we will not fail,” the Air Chief affirmed.
The directive comes amid renewed counterterrorism operations in the North-East, North-West, and parts of the North-Central regions, where coordinated air and ground offensives have recently neutralized several high-value terrorist targets.
The Nigerian Air Force has also stepped up aerial surveillance and precision strikes in collaboration with the Army and Navy under the joint military operation framework.
Aneke’s renewed call for decisive air superiority underscores the military’s resolve to dismantle terror networks, restore peace in troubled regions, and ensure the protection of Nigeria’s territorial integrity.
