The fourth evacuation flight scheduled to repatriate stranded Nigerians from Johannesburg, South Africa, has been postponed after a technical fault was discovered in the aircraft designated for the mission.
TVC reports that the Air Peace aircraft could not depart after cracks were discovered on the cockpit windscreen during pre-flight safety checks.
The airline subsequently suspended the flight as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of passengers and crew.
To reduce the impact of the delay, Air Peace has begun arrangements to deploy a replacement aircraft to Johannesburg later on Wednesday.
The aircraft is expected to evacuate the affected Nigerians as part of the Federal Government’s ongoing repatriation exercise.
Authorities apologised for the inconvenience caused by the delay and assured the returnees that efforts were being made to complete the evacuation as quickly as possible.
