Former governor of Oyo State, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala of Action Democratic Party (ADP), Engineer Seyi Makinde of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and former Deputy Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Adebayo Adelabu of All Progressive Congress (APC) have made the list of thirty seven (37) gubernatorial candidates of various political parties and their deputies released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Oyo State that would contest 2019 general elections.
The candidates’ names were pasted at the premises of the commission’s headquarters located along the Queen Elizabeth-Secretariat Road in Ibadan, the state capital.
Others that made the list are Akinwale Olaosun of AAC, Olaide Olayiwola of KOWA Party, Bamidele Ajadi of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Mogaji Odelalu of National Action Council (NAC), Hakeem Oyedele of Alliance for Democracy (AD), Saheed Ajadi of Accord Party, Olatunji Adigun Sadiq of Labour Party.
Also in the list are Bamigboye Abiodun of Socialist Party of Nigeria (SPN), Bolanle Ashabi Sarumi Aliyu of National Interest Party (NIP) and Taiwo Otegbeye of PPC.
The INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, Oyo State, Barrister Mutiu Agboke, said that the essence of the pasting the names was to give room for transparency in the electoral process.
Stressing that the names were pasted in order for the general public to have access to the particulars of each candidate.
