Algeria Defeats Senegal To Win 2nd AFCON

The Desert Warriors of Algeria have won their first African Cup of Nations (AFCON) title since 1990. They defeated the Teranga Lions of Senegal by a lone goal in the final played on Friday, July 19.

The game played at the Cairo International Stadium got off to a very feisty start after a goal in the 2nd minute.

Algeria with their first attack on goal had Baghdad Bounedjah cutting in from the left before hitting a shot; which took the hugest of deflections off the sliding Salif Sane.

The match was attraction in the midfield with little chances created by both sides.
