APC National Convention to Host 8,453 Delegates — Minister

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has revealed that the upcoming All Progressives Congress (APC) National Convention will see a total of 8,453 delegates in attendance.

Idris disclosed this on Thursday during the APC World Media Briefing in Abuja, noting that the delegates will be drawn from across the six geopolitical zones of the country.

According to the minister, the convention will reflect the party’s inclusiveness, unity, and democratic maturity, while reinforcing its commitment to national development under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu.

‘We are expecting a total of 8,453 delegates from across the country. This clearly demonstrates the national spread, inclusiveness, and organisational strength of our great party’, he said.

Responding to questions from journalists, Idris assured that adequate arrangements have been put in place to accommodate all accredited delegates.

‘I want to assure you that nobody will be left out. The party is very responsible, and our budget has a self-adjusting mechanism to accommodate all delegates’, he stated.

He added that the movement of delegates and committee members from various parts of the country has been smooth and incident-free.

‘As we speak, we have not recorded any incidents, and we do not expect any. This reflects the improving security situation and ongoing infrastructure development across the country’, Idris said.

The minister also revealed that a fully equipped media centre will be set up at Eagle Square, the convention venue, to ensure effective information dissemination.

‘There will be a media centre to ensure that Nigerians are adequately informed. We are inviting all media organisations, and accreditation will be provided for effective coverage’, he added.

He urged journalists to maintain professionalism in their reportage, emphasising the need for responsible and balanced reporting in the national interest.
