Arik Air Resumes Operations After Suspension Over Insurance Issues

Nigeria’s largest airline, Arik Air will resume full regular operations today (Wednesday), about 24 hours after announcing a temporary suspension of full services over its inability to renew insurance for the aircrafts in its fleet due to liquidity issues.

“We have resolved the issues relating to the insurance. Our flights have resumed but our full operations will start tomorrow. Two flights are already leaving to Port Harcourt and Abuja this evening. We sincerely apologise to our clients,” Adebanji Ola, the airline’s spokesman said in a statement on Tuesday night.

Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Michael Arumemi-Ikhide, in a statement also apologised to their stranded customers on Tuesday.

“Where flights have been cancelled, the airline will notify passengers through SMS and in such cases, passengers will be accommodated on first available alternative flight as soon as normal flight operations resume,” he said.
