Serie A side Atalanta are hopeful of welcoming back Nigeria forward Ademola Lookman for their crucial Champions League clash against Club Brugge on Tuesday (today).
The Italian side, who trail 2-1 from the first leg in Belgium, received a boost as Lookman partially trained with his teammates on Sunday alongside defender Sead Kolasinac, according to local newspaper Prima Bergamo.
The 26-year-old has missed Atalanta’s last six matches across all competitions due to knee problems but could make a timely return as the Nerazzurri aim to reach the Champions League Round of 16.
Manager Gian Piero Gasperini told Bergamo News that while Lookman is progressing well, the club will carefully assess his condition ahead of Tuesday’s match at the Gewiss Stadium.

“Kolasinac and Lookman trained well, but they are following a differentiated training regimen. We will assess their conditions in the next few days, especially considering that we might need to go into extra time on Tuesday,” Gasperini said.
“Kolasinac is closer to recovery, while Lookman is doing fine; he moves well but is still feeling some discomfort. The knee is a delicate area.”
The African Footballer of The Year has been in stellar form this season, scoring 14 goals and providing seven assists in 27 appearances across all competitions, including 10 goals in 19 Serie A matches.
His absence has coincided with a dip in Atalanta’s form, with the team winning just four of their 12 matches in 2025.
“Absences are significant because they can affect our performance,” Gasperini added. “Teams that come here often struggle and we must find solutions and the right movements against teams that play very defensively. We’re facing challenges, and it’s up to us to improve and resolve this situation.”
