Atiku Defeats Buhari With 1,461 Votes In Oyo State

The candidate of People Democratic Party (PDP) in the just concluded Presidential Election across the 33 local government areas of Oyo state, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has defeated President Muhammadu Buhari with 1,461 votes.

As the ruling APC won 9 House of Representatives, the PDP won 3, Action Democratic Party (ADP) won 1 and one Federal constituency declared inconclusive. The APC also won 2 Senatorial seats while the PDP won the remaining 1 seat.

The PDP, Oyo state chapter has vowed to challenge legally the Ibarapa North and Central that was declared inconclusive, which the party believed to have been won by its candidate.

Atiku Abubakar defeated President Muhammadu Buhari of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the election held on Saturday. 

The PDP candidate, Atiku won in 18 local government areas while Buhari won in 15. 

It could be recalled that Atiku Abubakar was leading in the first fourteen local government areas announced on Sunday. 

The results of the 33 local government areas as announced by the collation officers from the 33 local government areas in the state at the State Headquarters of INEC as at 2.17 indicated that Atiku Abubakar won.

The Collation Officer for the Presidential election in Oyo State, Prof. Abdul Kareem Age, who is the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin announced this on Monday at the Independent National Electoral Commission office in Agodi, Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

Former Vice President of Nigeria, Alhaji Atiku Abubarkar of the PDP polled Three Hundred and Sixty-Six Thousand, Six Hundred and Ninety votes (366, 690 votes), while President Muhammadu Buhari of the ruling APC polled Three Hundred and Sixty-Five Thousand, Two Hundred and Twenty Nine votes (365, 229 votes)

In his analyses, the Collation Officer said that 73 political parties participated in the Presidential election, and the total numbers of registered voters was two million, seven hundred and eighty six thousand, five hundred and forty two votes (2, 786, 542), and the number of the accredited voters was nine hundred and five thousand and seven (905, 007)

Valid votes  was eight hundred and thirty six thousand, five hundred and thirty one (836, 531) while rejected votes was fifty four thousand, five hundred and forty nine (54, 549) and total votes cast was eight hundred and ninety one thousand, eighty (891,80).
