Diego Simeone has added another piece to his squad. Atlético Madrid have officially confirmed the signing of South Korean winger Lee Kang-in from Paris Saint-Germain.
The 24-year-old arrives at the Metropolitano with a point to prove. After joining PSG in 2023, Lee was never quite able to cement a regular starting spot at the Parc des Princes, despite flashes of the quality that made him one of Asia’s most exciting attacking talents.
Atlético’s style could suit him well. Simeone demands hard work, discipline, and directness from his wingers — attributes Lee has shown throughout his career, from his breakout years at Valencia to his time in the French capital. He is quick, technically sharp, and capable of creating chances in tight spaces.
For Simeone, the signing continues a busy window. Atlético have been active in the market, and Lee represents both a commercial draw — given South Korea’s passionate football following — and a genuine footballing option in the wide areas.
Whether he can finally nail down a consistent starting role remains to be seen, but a move to La Liga and the structure Simeone provides could be exactly what Lee Kang-in needs to reach the next level.
