Bala Mohammed Expresses Willingness To Partner With Peter Obi For National Development

The Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, on Thursday declared his readiness to collaborate with Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, in efforts to improve good governance and address pressing national issues.

Mohammed made this known when Obi visited him at the Presidential Lodge in Bauchi for consultations. Their discussions focused on tackling poverty and insecurity while emphasizing the need for unity beyond political, religious, or ethnic differences.

“We discussed the challenges faced by different states, and I sincerely appreciate his efforts as the opposition leader. Whether people accept it or not, Peter Obi is currently at the forefront of the opposition in Nigeria,” Mohammed stated.

“To those who may try to misinterpret our discussions, I want to make it clear—I am open to working with him. Our goal is to promote good governance, provide a strong and knowledgeable opposition, and contribute towards rebuilding our country.”

He also noted that several PDP governors share this vision, as they are committed to a national agenda that prioritizes progress over party affiliations.

Obi, on his part, explained that his visit was a consultation with Mohammed, who holds a key leadership role as Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum.

“This was a discussion-focused meeting, and such engagements will continue as we deliberate on the country’s future. The North plays a crucial role in Nigeria’s progress, and addressing poverty must be a top priority, as it directly impacts rising criminal activities,” Obi said.

He emphasized the importance of significant investments in critical sectors to alleviate poverty and reduce insecurity.

Following their closed-door meeting, which lasted over three hours, both leaders reiterated their commitment to working for the nation’s progress.
