The bandits were reported to have invaded three communities – Iwili, Umogidi and Opaha – in Adoka district where they carried out the attack.
This came a few days after several persons were reportedly killed in Iwili and Umogidi on Tuesday.
A resident of Umogidi, Adakole Joseph, said that the two people killed were his uncle and cousin while a few others were injured.
“They (bandits) attacked Umogidi again in the evening of Thursday, killed two people and many others were injured.
“The two deceased were my relatives; one was my uncle and the other was a cousin,” Joseph said.
When contacted, the Chairman of Otukpo Local Government Area, Alfred Omakwu, confirmed the attack on the phone.
Omakwu said the area was calm as of Friday, despite threats from the armed invaders to attack.
He said, “Since Friday, there has been calm and the military presence has increased. But we are still receiving threats from them (invaders).
“Two of our youths were killed on Thursday. On the point of their (invaders’) entry, they engaged them (the youth) and the military too.
However, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Catherine Anene, said she was not aware of the incident.
“I’m not aware of this please,” the PPRO said.
