Bauchi Government Orders All Schools Closed Immediately

Due to increased security risks and the surge in terrorist attacks across northern states, the Bauchi State Government has issued an immediate order for the closure of all schools within the state.

The directive was issued on Sunday by the Public Relations Officer of the Bauchi State Ministry of Education, Jalaludeen Usman. It affects every level of schooling.

He said, “The Bauchi State Government wishes to notify the general public that all primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions, including Federal Government-owned schools and private schools, are hereby closed with immediate effect.”

Usman explained that the decision was made after long discussions and a careful assessment of the security issues threatening the safety of students and teachers.

According to him, “This decision, though difficult, was taken by the Government of Bauchi State after extensive consultations and in response to overwhelming security concerns affecting the safety of students, teachers, and school communities across the state.”

He noted that the government understands the inconvenience the closure will cause, but stressed that protecting students is the highest priority.

He said, “The government is fully aware of the inconvenience this may cause. However, the protection of our children remains our highest moral responsibility. Every student in Bauchi State deserves to learn in an environment that is safe, stable, and free of fear.”

The government urged parents, guardians, school owners, and other stakeholders to remain calm and work with authorities during this period.

Usman added that the government is already working with security agencies to restore peace quickly and assured that schools will reopen once it is safe.

He said, “The government is working closely with security agencies to address the concerns swiftly and comprehensively, ensuring that normal academic activities resume as soon as it is safe to do so.”

Residents were also encouraged to stay alert and report any suspicious activities. The government appealed to the public to adopt a “see something, say something” attitude, saying timely information is important for protecting communities.
