MOHBAD: Oba Elegushi Publicly Disassociates Himself From Sam Larry

The Elegushi Royal Family of the Ikate-Elegushi Kingdom in Lagos State has disassociated itself from a socialite and Naira Marley’s friend, Samson Balogun, popularly called Sam Larry.

The royal family, in an official statement released on Thursday, September 14, 2023, disclaimed any affiliation with the show promoter.

They clarified that Sam Larry‘s visits to the palace were merely to pay respects to the king and seek blessings, a practice open to all members of the public.

The royal family also extended their condolences to the family of the late Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.

In the statement, they also call for a thorough investigation into the singer’s untimely passing.

The statement emphasized: “Samson Balogun [Sam Larry] is not a member of the royal family and doesn’t work for the royal family or the king in any capacity.

“Like other celebrities, politicians, religious and community leaders, he visits the palace to pay homage to the king and seek royal blessings, just like other members of the public.”

In the wake of a video surfacing online showing Sam Larry and his associates disrupting Mohbad’s video shoot with Zlatan Ibile, he faced significant backlash on social media.

Mohbad’s passing on Tuesday, September 10, 2023, was a sober day for the whole music industry.

His death occurred just a year after his contentious departure from Marlian Music record label, owned by Naira Marley.
