Best Shows That Aired On Africa Magic In 2024

Week after week, Africa Magic offered Nollywood lovers a range of original shows, from reality TV to long-form series and limited series. We experienced every emotion through these shows, from rom-coms like Dimeji Ajibola’s My Fairytale Wedding, which gave us a star-studded ensemble that explored modern dating woes, to Indigenous shows like Masquerades of Aniedo, which delved into themes of vengeance and forbidden love.

We have curated a list of five of the best shows that aired on Africa Magic in 2024. These shows exceed three stars and should be revisited if you haven’t seen them.

  • Theory Of Breakfast

Chronicling a series of ‘breakfast’ moments through the eyes of the main lead, Laolu, The Theory of Breakfast does a great job at telling an unconventional love story of two best friends who find themselves falling for each other amid interlocked stories of woe. Theory of Breakfast served drama, mess, and everything in between, with the actors serving top-notch acting with cast members like Uzoamaka Onuoha, Lord Frank, David Eyo, David Riyo, Rykardo Agbor, Moet Abebe, and others.

  • Unscripted

Africa Magic delivered unfiltered drama on this reality TV show reunion simulation, and we loved every moment of it. Set against the backdrop of a highly anticipated reunion, the comic and drama-filled show unravels with past conflicts, hidden truths, and unexpected revelations among the former housemates. From extramarital affairs to domestic violence and even fake life, the cast had every lore to make an unhinged show.

  • Man Friend

In an exciting family drama, Man Friend explores the complexities of family relationships, following the tale of Doosur and how her parents’ tumultuous relationship puts her in a position of being a support system for her mother and on a mission to expose her father’s transgressions. Exploring themes of deception and self-discovery, the show delivers on all fronts with a stellar cast including Kunle Coker, Zainab Popoola, Chinonso Arubayi, Sir Dee, Martha Ehinome, Raymond Adeka, Venita Akpofure, and more.

  • Omera

Femi Ogunsanwo’s ‘Omera’ tells a reverse ‘japa’ story where the lead (Desmond Bryce) is scammed of his travel funds and subsequently presented with an opportunity by his uncle, Abara (Akin Lewis), to head his NGO. Amidst this is a land-grabbing scheme by greedy members of the Ajogu community with a subplot of forbidden romance.

Omera ultimately tells a story of love, greed, and deception weaved into a complex narrative. The ongoing Africa Magic drama features Desmond Bryce, Benjamin Olaye, Lanre Ayanwale, Mary Kowo, and more. It airs from Mondays to Fridays on Africa Magic Showcase (DStv Channel 151) at 8 pm.

  • My Fairytale Wedding

Directed by Dimeji Ajibola, My Fairytale Wedding tells a modern love story with supernatural elements. What happens when a woman employs the use of Kanyamata to find the love of her life? We get My Fairytale Wedding.

Telling a story of love, heartbreak, and redemption, the show delivers stellar casting with Ini Edo, Ramsey Nouah, Carolyna Hutchings, Lilian Esoro, Daniel Etim-Effiong, Kanayo o. Kanayo, Ayo Mogaji, and many more. But beyond the casting, the show tells a solid story of love, riddled with chemistry, elements of laughter, and moments that keep viewers locked to their screens.
