Governors elected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will today (Wednesday, 1st of November, 2023) meet former Rivers State Governor and current Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
It was reported that moves by 24 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly to impeach the state governor, Siminalayi Fubara, resulted in turbulence in the state on Monday.
The governor’s loyalists stormed the assembly complex in protest against the plot.
The PDP Governors’ Forum, under the leadership of the Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, in a communiqué read after a meeting of the group at the Oyo State Lodge in Abuja on Tuesday, commended President Bola Tinubu for his intervention in the political crisis.
The forum in a statement by its Director-General, Cyril Maduabum, on Wednesday, made it known that the decision to visit Wike was reached at the forum’s meeting on Tuesday.
The DG explained that the visit is for reconciliation and mediation purposes.
The statement read in part ”The Chairman of the Forum, Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, hereby requests member Governors to converge at his residence, No 1 Miriam Aloma Muktar Street, Asokoro, opposite Rivers State Governors Lodge at 10.45 am to accompany him for the visit.”
The visit is slated to hold in the FCT Minister’s office, by 11am.
