#BringBackOurGirls: The Global Campaign!
On the night of April 14, a group of militants kidnapped over 243 teenage girls from the Government Girls Secondary School in Chibok, Borno State, North-Eastern part of Nigeria.
Early this week, the group leader of boko haram, Abubakar Shekau releases a video claims responsibility for the abduction of the girls. In the video, Shekau threaten to sell the girls as slaves

Boko haram is a terrorist group operating in the North-Eastern part of Nigeria for over 5 years. The group has killed thousands of people, bombed places like churches, mosque, market places, army barracks, police stations including United Nations building in Abuja killing scores of people.
The abduction of the teenage girls has generated comments across the world and making it the global issue and campaign. #BringBackOurGirls is one the biggest campaign on many social networks across the world.
The kidnapping of these school girls has drawn attention of the world to Nigeria. All the international Television stations has since then focused their coverage and attentions to Nigeria.
The United States is one the powerful country who has shown support and offer assistance in rescuing these girls alive.
In his live broadcast remarks on the kidnapping, the US President, Mr. Barack Obama describes it as terrible. According to him; it a “terrible situation,” the U.S. will send military and law enforcement advisors to Nigeria to support its efforts to find and free the girls.
He continued, so what we’ve done is we have offered and it’s been accepted help from our military and law enforcement officials. We’re going to do everything we can to provide assistance to them. In the short term, our goal obviously is to help the international community and the Nigerian government as a team to do everything we can to recover these young ladies. But we’re also going to have to deal with the broader problem of organizations like this that can cause such havoc in people’s day-to-day lives.
After the teenage girls are rescued, this event will help “mobilize the entire international community to finally do something against this horrendous organization that’s perpetrated such a terrible crime.” He concluded.
In her support, the US First Lady Michelle Obama also tweet to support the country and add her voice. Her tweet using @FLOTUS ‘Our prayers are with the missing Nigerian girls and their families. It’s time to #BringBackOurGirls’. –mo. MO stands for Michelle Obama this means that she personally tweet the tweet.
The Pakistani schoolgirl who survived a shooting by Taliban insurgents, Malala Yousafzai, in an interview with BBC said ‘the world must not stay silent over the abduction of more than 200 girls in Nigeria.
She continued, “If we remain silent then this will spread, this will happen more and more and more”.
In another interview with BBC, the former United Nations Chief, Kofi Annan, appealed for action. He criticised both the Nigerian government and other African nations for not reacting faster to the kidnapping, and called on them to use whatever was at their disposal to help free the girls.
Meanwhile, the United States, United Kingdom and France have despatched teams of experts to Nigeria to help recover the girls.
