Burna Boy Reveals Why He Creates Afro-Fusion Genre

Grammy-winning Nigerian singer, Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has revealed that he created Afro-fusion genre to break free from the constraints of the widely recognized West African genre, afrobeats.
He explained what motivated him to create the Afro-fushion, in an interview with the American media outlet Complex.
“Afrofusion is a big melting pot of cultures and sounds. Afrofusion is not a box.
“Let me break it down, why I created afro-fusion is because I didn’t want to be boxed into any afrobeats or hip-hop or anything. Because I don’t believe in genres. I had to create my own.”
Remember that Burna Boy recently said that afrobeats is “literally nothing” and lacks lyrical substance. Could this be why he created Afro-fushion?
