The first rounds of games of the 2024/2025 UEFA Champions League will continue on Thursday with six (6) fixtures across different centres in Europe.
Two fixtures that stand out from the list of today’s schedule include Atalanta taking on Arsenal, and Monaco trading tackles with Barcelona.
Gian Piero Gasperini’s men will look to build on their 3-2 win against Fiorentina in the Serie A over the weekend.
On the other hand, the Gunners are coming into the tie on the bounce of a 1-0 victory in the North London derby against Tottenham Hotspur away from home via Gabriel Magalhaes’ header.
Mikel Arteta will still be missing the services of some players including Martin Odegaard, Kieran Tierney and new signing, Mikel Merino – and the Italian opposition also have some injury worries in Gianluca Scamacca, Rafael Toloi and a host of others.
Meanwhile, Hansi Flick’s Barcelona, oozing lots of confidence with all games won thus far in the La Liga will travel to Monaco.
The likes of Lamine Yamal, Robert Lewandowski and Dani Olmo have started like a house on fire – and Monaco have also started the season on a high with 10 points out of a possible 12 in the French Ligue 1.
It remains to be seen where the pendulum will swing in both encounters later tonight as Atalanta versus Arsenal will played at Gewiss Stadium at 8pm, while Adi Hutter’s Monaco will host high flying Barcelona at Stade Louis II same time.
