Chelsea Won’t Sack Benitez – Wilkins

Former Stamford Bridge assistant Wilkins, as said that it is “totally out of the question” to suggest that Roman Abramovich would sack the 52-year-old before the end of the season. goal.com reports.

Benitez took over from Roberto Di Matteo after a poor performance against Juventus to leave their Champions League hopes hanging by a thread. Wilkins believes that Benitez will remain at the club until the end of the season.

During an interview with  BBC Radio 5 Live‘s ‘Sportsweek’ whether the former Liverpool boss could be dismissed early, he replied: “I would think that is totally out of the question – they have asked him to come in and do a job and no doubt he is trying to work very hard to do it.

“Unfortunately the results are going against him at the moment. It has been a very difficult period for Chelsea and at the moment they are struggling.”

Though the Blues were beaten by London rivals West Ham 3-1 on Saturday to leave fans furious but Wilkins feels that club owner Roman Abramovich needs to show patience with his managers as he is running out of options.
