City Of Halifax, Canada Declares First Week Of October Every Year As Nigeria Week, Raises Nigerian Flag

On Wednesday October 2, 2019, the Mayor and City Council of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada will issue a formal Proclamation declaring the first Week of October every year as Nigeria Week in the City of Halifax.
This formal proclamation ceremony will take place by 9:30am at the Grand Parade in downtown Halifax, a historic square overlooking the Halifax City Hall. This event will also be marked by a formal flag raising ceremony to commemorate Nigeria’s 59th Independence Anniversary.
This historic event is in recognition and celebration of the history, culture and achievements of Nigerian people in the Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia, Canada, and the rest of the world.

Expected to be in attendance at this historic event are the Mayor and City Council of Halifax, Canadian Member of Parliament representing Halifax, Members of the Nova Scotia Legislative Assembly, as well as members of the Nigerian community in Nova Scotia.
