Governor Seyi Makinde, who is one of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) G5 group who have vowed not to support Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in his presidential bid has been called upon to clarify his true position on Atiku and the 2023 presidential election.
This call has come on the heels of the barefaced denial of one of his aides that he (the governor) has nothing to do with the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed and that the governor has always supported Atiku for the presidential election.
In a statement on Thursday by Atiku Victory Vanguard signed by the Group’s media team stated that, “We feel sorry for governor Makinde over the reaction of the said aide to the well-intentioned advice of Elder Wole Oyelese, former Minister for Power and Steel to the Governor.
“We believe our principal, Elder Wole Oyelese has been vindicated in his assertion that Governor Makinde is surrounded by quite a number of people who do not mean well for him. No doubt, Dare Adeleke has consistently proved himself to be a liability to this administration and we do not wish to join issues with a boot licker who has nothing to offer and who has never been objective in his reasoning if he ever does.
“We believe that his unwarranted and unreasonable vituperation only goes to show that Governor Makinde is indeed surrounded by a number of undesirable elements who he has no business accommodating.
“With all the documentary evidence both in the print and electronic media as regards Governor Makinde’s position not to support Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in his presidential bid, we believe our Principal does not deserve the uncultured attitude and language as contained in Dare’s release. The weak, puerile and dishonest defense which he put up only amounts to a great dis-service to Governor Makinde as he has succeeded in calling him a bad name.
“With the barefaced denial of the well-known position of Governor Makinde by Dare Adeleke, we believe the Nigerian public will be interested to know Governor Makinde’s true position on Atiku and his presidential ambition.
“Meanwhile, we wish to advise Governor Makinde to quickly dispense with individuals like Dare Adeleke who do not add any value to his administration and who have no decency of respect for elders.
Nigerians and the people of Oyo state are waiting to hear from Governor Makinde”, the statement concluded.
