
The Nigerian Air Force, NAF, is inviting the public to visit its bases across the country as part of its 61st anniversary celebrations. The theme is “Come See Your Air Force.” An Open Day event which will take place from May 1st to 15th, 2025.
The Open Day is designed to strengthen civil-military relations by giving Nigerians a unique opportunity to experience the operations and culture of the Air Force firsthand. It aims to foster greater public understanding and trust in the military.
A statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Edward Ehimen Ejodame, said participating bases include those in Makurdi, Bauchi, Yenagoa, Kaduna, Enugu, Ikeja, Katsina, Maiduguri, Port Harcourt, Osogbo, Minna, Abuja, Victoria Island, Yola, Benin, Kainji, Kano, and Jos. Each base will announce its specific schedule locally.
Activities planned for the Open Day include guided tours of facilities, aircraft and equipment displays, historical exhibitions, interactive sessions with Air Force personnel, video screenings, souvenir giveaways, and educational outreach in schools, including career talks to inspire the next generation.
The open day is part of events that form part of a broader celebration that will officially be held from May 13 to 20, 2025.

Speaking on the importance of the initiative, the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, described the Open Day as a platform for connection and national pride. He stressed that the event reflects the Air Force’s efforts to build unity and openness with the people it serves.
“This is your Air Force—come, see it, and connect with it,” Abubakar said, reaffirming the NAF’s commitment to building strong civil-military ties.
He encouraged Nigerians from all walks of life to take part and engage with the men and women of the Air Force during the open day.
