
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Thursday August 19, 2021 announced six hundred and seventy-four (674) confirmed new cases of coronavirus, also known as COVID-19 which is the highest in the last six months in the country.
The virus also killed eight (8) people on Thursday.
New cases of the pandemic have continued to rise for seven consecutive weeks across Africa including Nigeria, signaling the third wave as the country confirmed the deadly Delta variants.
The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Sunday July 11 in a statement announced a possible third wave of the pandemic in Nigeria.

“Today’s report includes 0 cases from Abia, Kano and Ondo States” NCDC said.
As of Thursday August 19, there are 15,100 active cases in Nigeria.
