COVID-19: Nigeria Records 1,016 New Cases, 11 Deaths

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Wednesday December 30, 2020 announced one thousand and sixteen (1,016) confirmed new cases in the country.

Eleven (11) people were reported dead on Wednesday.

The total confirmed cases now stand at 86,576.

“Our discharges today include 537 community recoveries in FCT, 459 in Lagos State and 78 in Plateau State managed in line with guidelines” NCDC said.

The Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19 in its weekly briefing a few weeks ago had warned Nigerians that if the cases continue to rise the country may consider a second lockdown as a measure to curb the spread.

The Presidential Taskforce had earlier this month also warned worship centres to be weary of annual christmas carol to curb the spread. It also issued stern warnings to Nigerians abroad who intend to come home for christmas to away or risk being locked down in case there’s a rise in coronavirus in the country.

As at Wednesday December 30, there are 11,976 active cases in Nigeria.
