COVID-19: Nigeria Records 1,145 New Cases, Total Infectious Now 76,207

For the first time since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic in the country, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Thursday December 17, 2020 announced one thousand, one hundred and forty-five (1145) confirmed new cases in the country.

The total confirmed cases now stand at 76,207.

The Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19 in its weekly briefing a few weeks ago had warned Nigerians that if the cases continue to rise the country may consider a second lockdown as a measure to curb the spread.

The Presidential Taskforce had earlier this month also warned worship centres to be weary of annual christmas carol to curb the spread. It also issued stern warnings to Nigerians abroad who intend to come home for christmas to away or risk being locked down in case there’s a rise in coronavirus in the country.

As at Thursday December 17, there are 7,896 active cases in Nigeria.
