COVID-19: Nigeria Records 1,244 New Cases, 3 Deaths

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Monday January 11, 2021 announced one thousand and two hundred and forty-four (1,244) confirmed new cases in the country.

Three (3) people were reported dead on Monday.

The total confirmed cases now stand at 101,331.

144 people also recovered from the virus in Lagos State according to a tweet by NCDC

“Our discharges today includes 144 community recoveries in Lagos State managed in line with guidelines” NCDC said.

The Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19 in its weekly briefing a few weeks ago had warned Nigerians that if the cases continue to rise the country may consider a second lockdown as a measure to curb the spread.

The Presidential Taskforce had earlier this month also warned worship centres to be weary of annual christmas carol to curb the spread. It also issued stern warnings to Nigerians abroad who intend to come home for christmas to away or risk being locked down in case there’s a rise in coronavirus in the country.

As at Monday January 11, 2021 there are 19,479 active cases in Nigeria.
