COVID-19: Nigeria Records 2,123 New Cases, 4 Deaths

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, announced two thousand, one hundred and twenty-three (2,123) confirmed new cases of coronavirus, also known as COVID-19 in the country.

The virus also killed four (4) persons on Tuesday.

New cases of the pandemic have continued to rise for seven consecutive weeks across Africa including Nigeria, signaling the third wave as the country confirmed the deadly Delta variants.

The country has also confirmed a new variant of COVID-19 called Omicron.

“Today’s report includes:

▪️33 confirmed cases and 10 discharges reported from Plateau state for 20th December 2021

▪️12 confirmed cases reported from Enugu state for 20th December 2021

▪️ 0 cases reported from Sokoto State,” NCDC said.

As of Tuesday, December 21, there are 12,628 active cases in Nigeria.
