
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Monday August 09, 2021 announced four hundred and twenty-two (422) confirmed new cases of coronavirus, also known as COVID-19 in the country.
The virus also claimed five (5) lives on Monday.
New cases of the pandemic have continued to rise for seven consecutive weeks across Africa including Nigeria, signaling the third wave as the country confirmed the deadly Delta variants.
The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Sunday July 11 in a statement announced a possible third wave of the pandemic in Nigeria.

“Today’s report includes:
Nine states with zero cases reported: Akwa Ibom, Ekiti, Kaduna, Kano, Nasarawa, Ondo, Sound, Plateau and Sokoto,” NCDC said.
As of Monday August 09, there are 10,334 active cases in Nigeria.
