
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Thursday, August 05, 2021 announced five hundred and sixty-six (566) confirmed new cases of coronavirus, also known as COVID-19 in the country.
The virus also claimed eleven (11) lives on Thursday.
New cases of the pandemic have continued to rise for seven consecutive weeks across Africa including Nigeria, signaling the third wave as the country confirmed the deadly Delta variants.
The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Sunday July 11 in a statement announced a possible third wave of the pandemic in Nigeria.

“States with zero cases reported (5): Edo, Nasarawa, Ondo, Osun, Sokoto,” NCDC said.
As of Thursday, August 05, there are 9,076 active cases in Nigeria.
