
The Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has formally left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The switch was announced after a private meeting held on Wednesday at the Government House in Asaba.
Confirming the move, the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, stated that the decision came after extensive consultations with political stakeholders.
He said the step was taken considering Delta State’s long-term development.

Oborevwori, who won the 2023 gubernatorial election on the PDP platform, was welcomed into the APC by senior party officials.
Political observers see the defection as a significant shift that could shape the political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections.
