Diri Takes Oath Of Office For Second Term

The Governor of Bayelsa State, Douye Diri, has been sworn in for his second term in office.

He took his oaths of office and allegiance administered by the state Chief Judge, Justice Matilda Ayemieye at 2pm today.

The deputy governor, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, was first sworn in by the chief judge.

Vice President Kashim Shettima was at the venue of the swearing-in in Yenagoa.

Upon his arrival, the national anthem was rendered to signal the commencement of the inauguration ceremony at 1:25 pm.

The Vice President of Liberia, Jeremiah Koung, also graced the event.

Also present were former presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, among other dignitaries.
