DJ Cuppy Makes History At United Nations General Assembly
Nigerian Disk Jockey and singer Florence Ifeoluwa Otedola, popularly known as DJ Cuppy, has become the first Nigerian to host an opening session at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
Cuppy moderated the Youth Action Day at this year’s UNGA, themed “The Summit of the Future – Youth Actions Day.”
Cuppy’s keynote session electrified the Assembly, with the entire room chanting together. She later delivered a powerful musical performance, leaving a lasting impression. Key personalities, including H.E. José Maria Neves and Felipe Paullier, attended the session.
Cuppy’s session was the largest youth gathering in UN Headquarters history. As an advocate for youth opportunities, Cuppy has inspired millions through her voice and platform.
Her foundation educates, empowers, and mobilizes young people for a sustainable, inclusive, and unified world.
During the session, Cuppy hinted at future ambitions, suggesting she might become Nigeria’s first female president.
UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina J. Mohammed responded, “You told me you wanted to be Nigeria’s first female president, and what did I say? After me.”
Cuppy’s aspirations, alongside Amina’s encouragement, symbolize growing momentum behind women’s leadership in Nigeria.
Cuppy echoed Amina’s message, urging youth to raise their voices against global challenges.
