‘Don’t Wait For 48 Hours’ — Atiku’s Aide Challenges Fayose to Make Good on Bean-Spilling Threat

Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar‘s aide, Paul Ibe, has taken a swipe at Ayodele Fayose, the former Ekiti State governor, over his renewed threat to dish out more information surrounding the recently reported meeting between Atiku and Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State in Minna.

In a statement on his verified X handle on Friday, Ibe dismissed Fayose’s remarks and accused him of failing to properly identify the author of an earlier statement that angered the former governor.

“I am not disappointed with one Peter Ayodele Fayose for his inability to make a distinction between Ambassador Phrank Shaibu and my humble self,” Ibe wrote.

He said the statement Fayose reacted to was not written by him, adding that Fayose ought to have noticed that it was authored by another aide.

“If indeed you read the statement titled ‘Peter Ayodele Fayose’s Beer Parlour Tales of Infamy’, you would have seen that it was actually authored by Amb. Shaibu and not Ibe,” he said.

Ibe went further to mock Fayose’s threat to issue a fresh response within 48 hours, suggesting the former governor may not have been in the right state of mind when he read the statement.“Is it possible that you may have been under the influence of some beverages when you read it? This only confirms that your tales are truly motivated by some aged beverages,” he said.

He also ridiculed Fayose’s ultimatum, stating: “Is 48 hours not too long? … I urge you to revert to me if you regain your sanity earlier than your projected recovery time of 48 hours.”

Fayose had earlier warned that he would reveal more information about a reported meeting between Atiku and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde in Minna, if Atiku failed to distance himself from the statement issued by his media team.

n his own post on X, Fayose said he had seen what he described as a response by Ibe to his earlier comment about the meeting and found it “amusing”.

“Because of my respect for Atiku, I will want to assume that he did not authorise the press statement and I will expect that after seeing it, he will within 48 hours, cause a rebuttal to be issued on it,” Fayose wrote.

He warned that if Atiku failed to publicly disown the statement, he would disclose further details about the meeting.

“Should Atiku not publicly disown the statement within the next 48 hours, I will have no option but to spill more beans — the facilitators and executioners of the Minna meeting, particularly what was said about Nyesom Wike,” Fayose added.

“Till then, we keep our gunpowder dry.”
