DW, Trust TV Launch ‘Afrimaxx Hausa’ in Nigeria

DW and Trust TV launched Afrimaxx Hausa in Abuja, Nigeria, under the theme “Afrimaxx Hausa: Celebrating African creativity, culture and innovation through local storytelling.”

Afrimaxx, DW’s popular lifestyle magazine, has long showcased modern African creativity and innovation in English. With this new partnership, DW and Trust TV have adapted the program into Hausa, making authentic African stories accessible to millions of Hausa-speaking viewers across Nigeria and beyond.

The event was held at the Retro Africa art gallery and brought together creative professionals, media representatives, and partners. The launch featured a panel discussion moderated by Abdullahi Ahmed, anchor at Trust TV, and included Tobi Ayeni (“MissTechy”, content creator), Prince Daniel (media executive and communication specialist) and Katurag Chinyio (visual artist and curator). The discussion, titled “The Power of Storytelling: Redefining Africa’s Global Image Through Lifestyle and Art,” explored how art and lifestyle shape Africa’s narrative, the responsibilities of creatives in reshaping perceptions, and the importance of authenticity in global spaces.

Melanie von Marschalck, Head of DW Culture and History, highlighted the significance of the format for DW’s Hausa audience: “Afrimaxx Hausa brings the creativity and cultural diversity of Africa to a wider audience in a language that resonates locally. Through authentic storytelling, we showcase inspiring creatives who are shaping the continent’s future in art, design, and innovation.”

Ibrahim Shehu, Editorial Director at Media Trust Group and COO of Trust TV, continues: “Afrimaxx Hausa represents everything we believe in at Media Trust Group — storytelling that is authentic, elevating and deeply connected to the communities we serve. We are proud to work with DW on a program that not only inspires but also reaffirms our shared commitment to telling Africa’s story with dignity, color and originality.”

Sevan Ibrahim-Sauer, Head of DW Distribution Africa, adds: “The new cooperation with Trust TV in Nigeria is an important step toward strengthening our presence in one of Africa’s most dynamic media markets. I am particularly pleased that this also allows us to establish a new Hausa-language format, which opens up additional opportunities for partnerships and increases DW’s visibility in the region.”

Afrimaxx Hausa will air weekly on Trust TV, spotlighting fashion, design, architecture, art, food, and travel, featuring outstanding individuals doing extraordinary things across the African continent.
