This weekend, Eberechi Eze is set to join Arsenal from Crystal Palace in a £67.5 million deal, a move that will etch his name into the Gunners’ transfer history.
Eberechi Eze, 27, will undergo medical tests on Friday, with the deal structured as £60 million guaranteed plus £7.5 million performance-related add-ons. Once confirmed, the England international will rank as Arsenal’s third-most expensive signing of all time.
Only Declan Rice, who joined from West Ham for a record-breaking £105m in 2023, and Nicolas Pépé, who cost £72m from Lille in 2019, have commanded higher fees in the Gunners’ history.
Eze edges ahead of Kai Havertz (£65m from Chelsea) and Viktor Gyökeres (£63.5m from Sporting CP) in the club’s top-five list.
Arsenal’s move also represents a dramatic hijack of Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of the midfielder. Spurs had been confident of landing him earlier this week, but the Gunners swooped in and matched their offer, convincing Eze to choose the Emirates instead.
Eze was left out of Crystal Palace’s Europa Conference League squad against Fredrikstad on Thursday, further underlining his imminent departure.

Former Arsenal midfielder Paul Merson believes the signing could be decisive in the Premier League title race.
“Eze is a brilliant signing. It is a game-changer, a perfect fit. He has the X-factor, and in tight games, he can break a low block down. I think Arsenal will win the league with Eze,” Merson told Sky Sports.
If the deal goes through as expected, Eze will not just be a marquee addition but also a statement of intent from Mikel Arteta’s side as they push to end their 20-year wait for a league title.
