Economic Hardship Inspired My Music Career – Segun Johnson

Nigerian musician Segun Johnson has revealed that economic hardship was the primary force that inspired his music career.
In a recent interview with media personality Teju BabyFace, Johnson shared details of his humble beginnings and how the harsh realities of life in Nigeria steered him toward music.
When asked whether music had always been his dream or if he discovered it as a viable career path, Johnson answered honestly in Yoruba: “Ebi ni, hunger ni. If you are in Nigeria, you don’t have a choice,” meaning that hunger drove him to music.
He went on to talk about his early years, noting that he started as a backup singer for several top artists until opportunities began to open up.
