
A four-story building currently under construction has collapsed at 333 Borno Way, Alagomeji, Ebute Metta, Lagos State.
The incident was confirmed in a statement on Saturday by Deputy Controller General Ogabi Olajide of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service.
He disclosed that workers in the collapsed building have all been rescued.
The Controller General stated that the four-storey building under construction collapsed at approximately 19:46 hours on Friday night.
His statement titled ‘Workers Rescued From Ebute-Meta Building Collapse (Video)’ read: “The building collapse at 333 Borno Way, Alagomeji, Ebute Metta, Lagos, has all relevant emergency responders, including the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, at the scene with three male adult victims already rescued alive,. In contrast, search and rescue continue for the remaining two construction workers still trapped.
“The four-storey building under construction gave way at about 19:46 hours on Friday, as reported before the intervention of first responders.
“Further updates will be communicated as the situation unfolds.”
In another update on the collapse, Olajide said: “All eight trapped victims (all adult male construction workers) have been rescued alive as search and rescue reached ground zero, while the evacuation of rubble continues.”
