Former Vice President, Alex Ekwueme has died after a brief ailment in a London hospital.
His death was announced by his elder brother, HRH. Prof Laz Ekwueme, the Igwe of Oko in Anambra State in a statement.
“The Ekwueme family regrets to announce the peaceful passing away of their patriarch, the former Vice-President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Dr Alex Ifeanyichukwu Ekwueme GCON. The sad event occurred at The London Clinic at 10:00 pm on Sunday 19th November 2017,” the statement said.
It will be recalled that President Muhammadu Buhari ordered the air ambulance to transport him to London few days ago to save his life.
