Fayose Visits Aregbesola Following Exit from PDP

Emmanuel Fayose, a former governorship aspirant in Ekiti State, held a closed-door meeting with the National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, less than 24 hours after he departed from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

A politician from Ekiti, who confirmed the development to Leadership Newspaper but preferred anonymity, said Fayose is already in talks to pitch his tent with the ADC ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

During the consultation, Aregbesola reportedly encouraged Fayose to “join ADC without further delay,” stressing that the party remains open to strong grassroots leaders capable of building alternative structures.

Fayose had on Thursday released a widely circulated video where he described the PDP as a “compromised party,” accusing its leadership of acting as “stooges for the ruling party, APC.”

He also announced his resignation at a press conference in Abuja, alleging betrayal and compromise by the PDP’s national leadership.

“The party’s forthcoming primaries in Ekiti have already been compromised. Any candidate produced through such a process may not even be recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC),” he warned.

Fayose said he and his supporters could no longer continue in PDP, insisting that his aspiration to serve was tied to a party that offers fairness and internal democracy.

Emmanuel Fayose is the younger brother of former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose.
