A member of House of Representatives of the All Progressive Congress representing Lagos, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila has been elected as Speaker in the 9th National Assembly.
Gbajabiamila garnered a total number of 283 votes and surpassed the simple majority of 181 votes of 360 members required to win.
He defeated Umar Bogo, also of the APC, who ran for the position of speaker against his party’s wish and got 76 votes.
